Meet Ari Erwan Effendi

This project is long overdue, one of our beloved interns (you know who you are, you are missed dearly; please come back to Singapore soon) suggested we interview everyone in the company. We thought it’d be a great way to place faces behind the typologo. However the idea got lost in the fray of work and other blogging topics, especially as the idea came towards the end of her internship with the company.

The piece below breaks the ice with one of the newer additions to the team, we hope you enjoy - be sure to say ‘hello’ the next time you see him!

Name: Ari Erwan Effendi

Age: 22 (Claims he’s 27)

Marital status: Single

Orientation: Straight

From: Singapore (Originally from Medan, Indonesia via his grand parents)

Where: If he’s not working with us in the office he’s serving customers and curating the space at Tangs.

Favorite food: “I don’t eat food much because I’m working so hard” - We thought this was a great answer.

Most embarassing moment: “I don’t get easily embarrassed, I have thick skin” - Future applicants please take note, thick skin is a character trait that is welcomed at sifr

Last song listened to: Jamiroquai - She’s A Fast Persuader

Reading: My Dear Bomb - Yohji Yamamoto

Favorite brand besides sifr: Yohji Yamamoto Homme

Favorite customer interaction: a lady asks, “Do you have something for my seven year old boy?”

It’s been over a month since we’ve been back from NYC. These photos are overdue, we should share more often with everyone but we’ve been procrastinating on the blogging-front. We’ll promise to throw up at least one post a week, just been resisting this tumblr interface, although it’s a lot simpler than WP or BS.

The photos in this post and in the next few posts after this post are from our trip to NYC. KIN was there on a buying trip and Sifr was there attending it’s first international trade show. The New York trip was a roller coaster for us. Off the top of our heads: the first 6 days was fighting jet-lag and working through the trade show hours on multiple espressos. We were learning protocol on the fly, dealing with last minute hiccups, meeting with buyers and hearing feedback, taking people through our collection over and over again explaining where we come from and what we are about, meeting old friends, making new ones, eating out, partying, and walking a lot.

We came back to Singapore with a lot learned and experienced, couldn’t have asked more for a business trip & then some more. We can’t wait to head out again for this coming AW12.

Sincerely,

sifr

We just completed the first segment of our impromptu video series where we look at the inner workings of Sifr. This video is our way of sharing (going fifty-fifty) what we get up to with everyone that makes doing Sifr possible. Enjoy the video, a first of many!

Amazing video on Indian wood block print. sifr will be releasing some prints in our upcoming capsule AW11 collection!

Welcome to our new blog.

We’ll be flying up to New York for the forthcoming ENKNYC & Capsule tradeshows next week. Both KIN & sifr will be posting updates on the trip!

In the mean time check out our recent Blueprint video.
