D.E.A.R Time

drop everything and read

We just brought in Rocket Zine here at KIN, a project that highlights stories from Singapore and the region, told and juxtaposed within context of what’s going on in the rest of the world. Perfect for a weekend read, the print edition includes fashion-centric contributions and idiosyncratic writings.

Pointer links up with iconic Japanese bag company Porter this season, coming up with a small range of accessories in a new capsule collection. Consisting of a tote bag, backpack and wallet, Pointer manages to rework classic Porter items with a solid two-tone scheme. Come down to the store to take a better look at these pieces.

Dear Bali, thank you for the memories, we shall meet again soon..

We are blessed to have Summer all year round living in Singapore (give and take some erratic rain clouds at times). Fortunately, Singapore’s Changi Airport allows us to take a quick flight to arguably some of the best beaches in the region, if not, the world. So, when an opportunity presented itself for some us to take the flight down to Bali, three of us packed up our Sifr essentials and went on a trip. These are just a small selection of our photo documentation. Other photos were probably too graphic!

Budget flights are useful and friendlier on the wallet for short trips (sometime) but nothing beats a full service flight.

We stayed in Kuta on Poppies Lane 1, a narrow one lane, two way carriage (pedestrians included) that connects Kuta Beach to Legian. Poppies Lane is lined with shops offering the usual tourist knick knacks, CDs and DVD copies, convenience shops, apotek (pharmacy) massage parlours, surf shops and restaurants. One restaurant in particular that we enjoyed was Tj’s that served us Mexican cuisine. (Try their hot sauce).

Legian is ideal for those who enjoy a really late night tipple or two. Given the close proximity of different bars and clubs, you could bar hop to find a spot that tickles your fancy visually and musically. It is a smorgasbord of activity after 11 p.m and doesn’t stop till around 5 to 6 a.m.

Besides our morning to mid afternoon surfing excursions, this was possibly one of the highlight for this trip. We took a 20 minute ride from Kuta and visited Potato Head Beach Club on Seminyak. Riding up the long driveway that leads to this establishment, we knew that we were entering an exclusive spot and we weren’t disappointed. The building was stunning and we were quite impressed with the way it was conceptualized and designed. The organic use of mismatched old window shutters that lined the exterior, interior and the ceiling was a quaint juxtaposition with industrial concrete. Food and service was great and we highly recommend Potato Head to be one of the ‘must-go’ places in Seminyak. On top of that, they have a well curated on site boutique for those who need to engage in a bit of retail therapy.

Fortunately for us, Potato Head had guest Djs, A-TRAK and Congorock on that Wednesday night and what better way to cap off dinner with a party. Beach parties are something that even though we live in Singapore, we do not get enough. In spite of the circumstances, that night was truly memorable. We were brought to the VIP area after they learnt about one member of our group’s injury and we truly appreciate our hosts Jimmy and Ronald’s hospitality immensely.bali6

The vibe was great and to see a full crowd appreciating the music on a Wednesday night - that was just brilliant. Rumour has it that Potato Head is getting a Dj that most of us in the company enjoy listening to really soon. And when that date is confirmed, we will make the trip down to reacquaint with Bali once more, this time with everyone from the company. Enjoy the video.

Welcome to our new blog.

We’ll be flying up to New York for the forthcoming ENKNYC & Capsule tradeshows next week. Both KIN & sifr will be posting updates on the trip!

In the mean time check out our recent Blueprint video.
